Christmas Card Club - An upcycle challenge

Yet another fortnight closer to the festive season and I feel it is getting a little close for comfort.  I have so much to do and like many of you supportive readers, not enough hours in my week!  Many of you have met Ben, our Border Collie in real life or on my FB page, but I don't think I've introduced him here yet.  Those who know him, know that he occupies a lot of my time usually chasing him around the garden to retrieve something he has stolen. Well today it was tomato plants; yes and still in their pots. Whilst their season is just about done green tomato chutney was still an option until they were Ben'd this morning.
Ah well onto the matter of this post!  Our challenge at Christmas Card Club is to upcycle an item on our card!  I've cheated a bit and so I've made a double bill.  I'm now a Body Shop consultant as well as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and so I've made a gift box by upcycling a body butter container and I've made a card to accompany it.  The card below is a very simple easel card made using my favourite stamp set from the Stampin' Up! autumn/winter catalogue called Festive Flurry. It has matching framelits which save you the hassle of cutting them out and give a perfect outline which after all is what snowflakes usually have.  I've also used the new thinlet expressions dies to add a large scripted 'Merry' as well as my sentiment.  If you have the thinlits you'll find it easier to remove your die cut word if you add a piece of baking parchment or wax paper between the thinlit and the card stock before putting it all through you Big Shot.

Check out both on the box and on  the card the beautiful frosted finishes embellishments in the centre of the snowflakes. They are so, so  sparkly and make great earrings too which will be a perfect gift to go inside  my new gift box.
Have a great week and remember you could join Stampin' Up! from tomorrow for the next two weeks for just £25. What a bargain. Check out my Join Stampin' Up! page to find out more.
Thank you Maureen for this fun challenge and I hope you forgive me for cheating!
