Christmas Card Club - Colour Me Happy Robins

Stampin' Up! Colour Me Happy stamp set has worked out well for me for this fortnight's Christmas Card Club challenge.  The cute little birds can be coloured to look like Robins which is our theme today, chosen by Valery aka Mrs A.  I was inspired to use the birds like this by my downline Lizzie Taylor who sent me this fab card last Christmas.  Using the Stampin' Up! blends makes it easy to add the red breast and shading to the feathers.  I know that Robins are very territorial usually and you wouldn't often see two together, but I couldn't resist having this pair.  I've used the branch from Stampin' Up! Colourful Seasons stamp set and overlaid it on itself to create a bigger branch and for the lower one just stamped off the page.  I added some baubles from Ready for Christmas that was in the winter Stampin' Up! catalogue and is still available on the carryover list.  The baubles come in a trio, but if you ink the stamp carefully you can mix and match and stamp single ornaments where you want them.  I then used a black stampin marker to add simple freehand strings to the branch.

I stamped and coloured the Robins onto the base card and then stamped them again and coloured them before fussy cutting them out to raise them and give some dimension.  To make it easier I have to confess I cut the legs off and therefore you see the originally stamped set, but it actually gives some depth with the fluffy feathered bodies being above them slightly.   Although you can't see in the picture I added a little gold wink of steel to the ornaments and some clear wink to the sentiment which is from Snowflake Sentiments another carried over set.  I just used a cherry cobbler marker to ink the section of the sentiment I wanted to use.  I've add a scrap of ribbon which is just folded over to form a loop in the top left corner.

Colours used include Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and memento black ink for colouring with alcohol markers like Stampin' Blends.

Here's Lizzie's super card so you can twice the inspiration for this fun set of stamps, Colour Me Happy, which is only available while supplies last.  I love the circle frames she's used and the touch of stitched ribbon and burlap.  Thanks Lizzie xx

Don't forget to check out the other lovely cards from our challenge club which you can find by clicking on the link at the top of the page Christmas CC.

I hope everyone is keeping warm and cosy and most importantly safe whilst the weather is so harsh.  Happy Sunday and have a great week.

Hugs Zoe x

Love the dimension of this pair of beautifully colored robins...like the colors you've used for the mats. Here in the USA, our robins must not be so territorial as yours, as we frequently will see several hopping about in the lawn looking for 'food'. Occasionally one will perch on the shepherd hook where we have a feeder, but they never eat the seeds (that I've seen). Our robins are a very dark gray, nearly black, with a rather burnt orange breast. TFS

I love the bauble hanging idea from the tree branch and those super looking robins. We have a pair in the garden at present. Think they are a male and female as one is a lot smaller than the other. The Doc has moved their feeding trays nearer to the house
so we stand and watch them from our kitchen window. Hugs Mrs A.
