Back to School for Moving Along with the Times

Time for Team A over at Moving Along with the Times to share their next challenge with you all. This month the theme was chosen by Amy.  We'd love to see your creations for Back to School.

I've made my DT card using Stampin' Up!  Labelling Alphabet set and the ever popular owl punch. He's so adorable and very cute just like all the new kids starting back to school soon.

He's standing on a pile of books created with the new Classic Label punch and the 1/2 " circle punch. His page of paper is from the Floral Boutique Designer Series paper and I cut the shape of it using the Project Life Cards and Labels dies.   A sweet little apple for the teacher is from Thoughtful Branches which is now available to purchase, but only during  August while stocks last.

When I first saw the theme of the challenge I was stumped, but the trusty owl has come up with goods.  You can make so many characters with this little chap from teachers to nurses to tulips to ghosts and many more.  If he's not part of your craft supplies he's really a timeless addition to consider.

Please do join our challenge and check out all the other DT cards here.

Happy school day memories to you all.

Happy Birthday Dad

It's been a tough few months for my fabulous Dad, but he's hanging on in there following surgery to hopefully stop the spread of the big C.  He's now struggling a bit with the whole idea of eating little and often as he grew up on 3 square meals a day, but he's getting there slowly.  My Mum is working her magic and adapting too to helping Dad follow this new regime.  We've also learned to take her out for 'real' meals as well.

However it's celebration time today as it is Dad's birthday. I've made hime this card as he does mean the world to me and my family, but he is also a big star in my eyes.  He's been a great sounding board in my life and a good friend.  Have a lovely Dad.

Now what did I do.  I embossed the globe stamp from Stampin Up Going Global set in white and then spritz the piece of watercolour card with water before adding drops of ink using an aqua painter as my dipper dropper!  I punched out the world, ooh that sounds grand, then used circle thinlits to cut the pacific point circle border.  I've punched out various stars including one from the sea and also some epoxy accent star stickers.  My happy birthday is from Something to Say on the retired list.

Once again HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD - have a great day.

Christmas Card Club

Can you believe it is already April!!!! Each year always starts busy for me with Stampin' Up! launching its annual mega promotion Sale-a-bration, but April already.  It's also yet another fortnight on since our last Christmas Card Club Challenge.  The challenge was set by Carol who asked us to use a stencil or embossing folder if we didn't have a stencil.  I do have stencils and used this one from the cute pack of 6" x 6" stencils called Happy Patterns (138313).  With a little snail adhesive I attached my basic black layer onto a piece of copier paper just enough to hold it in place. Then using masking tape I held the stencil in place over the card stock.  I then carefully used my Versa Mark pad to add ink  although this was a little tricky as this stencil has lots of detail and so is not the most stable of stencils.  Check out one of the other stencils that I used in my last stamping scene post for more ideas.  Having added the ink I removed the stencil and then added silver embossing powder and heated with a heat gun.

The stencilled back ground is then matted onto a frame of silver glimmer paper and finally onto a white card base.

Santa is a stamp I bought in Lakeland years ago when they sold crafty goodies.  He's kinda jolly and I stamped him twice in black Staz On ink and coloured him in with my Stampin' Up! marker pens.  I cut out his head to give extra depth to the image.  I've also used a Wink of Stella clear pen to add some sparkle to his hat band, gloves and holly berries.

Last but not least is a sentiment from Sassy Salutations which is a script set covering most events of the year.

Have a great Sunday and pop by the other ladies in our challenge group who have some super inspiration for you.  If you fancy joining our gang please do let us know.
