Totally Technique - Black Magic Tutorial

Hi and welcome to another Totally Techniques blog hop with our global team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  You can follow the hop with the next button or go to the list at the bottom of my post to visit them all too.  We are sharing the Black Magic technique this month which is achieved by stamping a white pigment ink onto black card and then adding colour with pencils.  I used the popular stamp set Watercolour Wings for my image building up layers of white ink with the different stamps.

I started with the background of the butterfly and stamped it in white craft ink onto a black piece of card.  Heat with a heat tool to dry the image.

Then add the layers of design for the butterfly following the same process stamping in white craft (pigment) ink and drying with a heat tool.

Start to then add colour. I used my Stampin' Up! watercolour pencils to colour on the whitest part of the image.

I used daffodil delight, real red and finished with pacific point
I then added the body of the butterfly by using an embossing buddy to remove static from the design and stamped the body with versa mark ink. I added copper embossing powder and used a heat tool to set the embossing powder.  I repeated this process for the antennae.

I mounted the design on a matting layer of copper foil card and added some gold glitter spots.

It's not easy to photograph, but I then added copper thread in loops to either side of the design by adding a fast fase strip of adhesive to the reverse on each side and then carefully looped the thread catching it in the adhesive strip to secure it.

Stampin' dimensionale were used to add the finished design piece to my base card.  I've left it sentiment free so that I can stamp one in basic black towards the bottom as required.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop.

Stampin' Up! Thailand Achiever's Blog Hop

Welcome to our final achiever's blog hop named Thailand.  We're sharing some favourites from the winter catalogue this time and I've got a card to share that has lots of sparkle and uses a handful of products including Snowflake Sentiments and Merry Mistletoe stamp sets and the fabulous snowflake embossing folder called Winter Wonder.  Regular readers know I love a bit of bling and this has a handful of basic rhinestones with a large silver faceted gem certainly satisfy that need and a couple of strips of silver glimmer paper.

I've stamped in basic grey ink on a thick whisper white card base then added the embossed snowflake layer which is basic grey card too.  A simple message is added in basic black ink.  This is a simply created card perfect for making lots to send to all your friends.

Enjoy the hop and the inspiration from lots more demonstrators from around the world of Stampin' Up!.

You are currently with me, Zoe Tant from the UK.

See you soon and thanks for visiting me.  Zx
