Christmas Card Club - Trees with mixed media

It's Mary's turn to choose our challenge this fortnight and it had two parts trees and mixed media.  My card has colour washing with Stampin' Up! re-inkers, glitter added with the fine tip glue pen and heat embossing.  I've also added an embossed sentiment with a staple and created a spotlight effect with the centre trees.

I've used the timeless stamp set Lovely as a Tree which has been in the Stampin' Up! catalogue for many, many years now and it seems to appeal to everyone.  It is a trusty set that you can rely on with various trees that suit Christmas cards to the more challenging masculine cards.

Sadly today the weather has not been on my side for taking photos so I've tried a few times with lights and I hope you can see the colours and texture involved.

Please do go visit all the other lovely ladies in our Christmas Card Club Challenge. You can find their blogs in my sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week. Zx

Totally Techniques Design Team Blog Hop

Hello and welcome if you have arrived here from Nadine Weiner's blog as part of the Totally Techniques November Blog Hop.

I'm so excited to share my post today.  I was recently asked to join the Totally Techniques Design Team Monthly Blog Hop and to share some technique cards with you.  Our theme for my first blog hop with the team is Emboss Resist which is a fun technique that can be done in so many ways.  I've gone for a simple use of the technique here using the fabulous Stampin' Up!  Celebrate Today stamp set with Balloon framelits.

I stamped the designs on the balloons in versa mark ink one by one and added whisper white embossing powder each time after I had stamped.  Then using the large balloon shaped stamps I added the colour with basic stamping over the embossed designs.  The embossing resists the ink stamped over them and any excess can be wiped away with a clean tissue making the white design 'pop' just like the printed balloons you can buy with designs on them.

The balloon framelits make it so easy for cutting out the neat little bows that you can add like ribbons tied to the balloons.  I love these bold colours of cucumber crush, daffodil delight and real red and with a few of the self adhesive enamel shapes it makes a fun birthday card for anyone young or old.

PRIZE PATROL
Having shopped for myself in the Stampin' Up! extravaganza that's on until Monday 28th November I've got some enamel shapes to give away.  Visit and like my Facebook page to be in the draw to win a pack.  I'll draw a couple of names on Tuesday 29 November.  If you would like to share a post also that would be much appreciated.

Moving Along with the Times - Anything goes Christmas Challenge

DT Call - if you'd like to join us as a design team member for MAWTT please visit the MAWTT blog and let us know.  We are looking for a new teamie!

Time for Team A to run with Christine's challenge this week for the Moving Along with the Times fortnightly challenge.  Christine chose Anything Goes Christmas for a theme and so with the festive season getting closer I've shared a gift box with you which I made using the Stampin' Up! gift box punch board and Holly Berry Happiness stamp set and Holly Berry Builder punch.  Do come and join our challenge this fortnight here.

To create a background I've stamped with tip top taupe ink using a stamp from Timeless Textures.  I didn't reink the stamp every time to create different shades of colour.  The holly is stamped in black memento ink and then the 'filler' stamp is used to colour the leaves in garden green ink.  The berries are another stamp from the same set.  The bow is two step stamping also with the same black and real red ink in two stages.  The punch is perfect then for quick and easy cutting out of the bow.

A little layering with garden green and copper foil card stock and some beautiful lace through which I threaded real red bakers twine using a long needle.

With lovely boxes like this you can turn homemade cookies into a wow teacher or neighbour gift especially as the gift box punch board can be used to make all sorts of sized boxes.

Check out the Stampin' Up! Extravaganza event this week to see awesome discounts on the Holly Berry Builder Punch and many other popular products.
