Mojo Challenges

Do you sometimes find that starting with a sketch or a colour combo it's easier to come up with your card design?  Well I've followed the sketch at Mojo Monday this week and used the colour combo in the challenge at the GDP blog.  The colours are Tangelo Twist, Early Espresso and Bermuda Bay.  They are all colours that I love to use, but not necessarily together.  I've also been practising with my stencils to create the background in readiness for our Christmas card club challenge this weekend which is to use stencils.

This colour combo makes for a bright, bold effect and I'm please with how it turned out.  I'm a little early for Father's Day in June, but have decided to send this card to my Dad, who regular readers know has been dealing with massive surgery and now has to learn to eat in a very different way to what he has known for over 7 decades.  I hope it brings a smile to his face and reminds him that we are with him in his journey, even though we have bullied him a bit of late.  We love you Dad that's all.......

So stamps sets used are Stampin' Up! Bear Hugs  and Going Global, both in the Spring catalogue.  Bear Hugs comes on its own or in a bundle with matching framelits.  Going Global is an awesome set for the guys.

 Quick Tips
To get the sweet little bear to hold onto the banner I stamped her onto a circle and then cut around her legs and under her arms to slip the banner just under her claws.  To get the stencilled background I cut one piece of whisper white and then cut it down the centre portrait line.  I then added a little snail to the back of both pieces, rubbed the glued part on my jumper to make it less sticky and then positioned them on my grid paper so that they became one piece again.  I took a natural block out line in the stencil to cover the gap and then carefully added ink with sponges to both halves hence getting the two colours.  A little fiddly, but easy enough to do.

Have a great day and come back to see more stencilling on Sunday in the Christmas Card Club Challenge.

Sketches and CASE challenges are those that give me the most inspiration, but I do struggle with color challenges. This card is so much fun, love the background and how you cut the bear to hold the banner.
