Totally Techniques Share the Baby Wipe Technique

Welcome to our monthly blog hop for the Totally Techniques International Stampin' Up! demonstrators team. If you've just arrived from my lovely friend Kelly's blog in the USA you've already seen an awesome example of the Baby Wipe technique.  I hope you'll find lots of ideas along the hop as you move around our talented group.

I've played about with a couple of uses of the humble baby wipe. The easiest way is to just add drops of ink onto a baby wipe to create your own multi coloured ink pad.  Look below for the pink and purple wipe in a stampin up case.  You can use it multiple times to create coloured images and they will all be different as the ink blends and spreads.  It may even last a day or two if your case seals well.

It works particularly well with solid stamps to really show off the colours.  The inks I used for this one were Blackberry Bliss, Berry Burst, Rich Razzleberry and Blushing Bride.  I used the stamp set A Big Thank You which is part of a bundle with the Thank You thin let.  To create the thank you I added multipurpose adhesive sheet to a piece of whisper white. I coloured the other side with markers in blushing bride and rich razzleberry and then added versa mark ink to the remainder before adding gold embossing powder and then die cut the thank you.

My next example uses ink along the fold of a baby wipe and it is then swiped over a piece of glossy card stock to create in this case the watery back ground for my fish from the Stampin' Up! set Best Catch.

You can also use the technique for the top card to create colours on the fish, but first you will want to stamp your image onto the baby wipe in Staz On and then add your selected inks to the image on the wipe.

The colours for the sea were Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Bermuda Bay. For the fish I used Soft Suede, Merry Merlot, Smokey Slate and Bermuda Bay.

At the bottom of the sea I added some stamped sea weed using the fern stamps from the set Painted Harvest in soft seafoam and mint macaron. Ink can smudge on glossy card stock so I stamped then added clear embossing powder and heated it to seal the ink. I also stamped a few pebbles along the bottom using a stamp from the Best Catch set.  My sentiment was then just stamped using ink left from the 'sea swipe' and I've added a circle of retired galvanised foil, and some copper trim to give the impression of a fishing net.   I also used the pebble stamp on the base card and used the spatter technique with marker pens to soften the white matting layer.

Enjoy our hop and see many of these products in our new Spring catalogue.
