I'm so excited to share my Christmas Card Challenge card with you today! Our challenge was set by
Margaret this week. The challenge is to feature a robin. Now I didn't have a robin stamp of any kind and could have made a punch art robin at most, so I finally plucked up the courage to use my Undefined Kit that I received on the Stampin' Up! incentive trip last July and carve my own robin stamp. It's a super kit, but it's a bit like packs of designer series paper, you don't want to use them because they are so lovely and so you have one to use and one to stroke! However, with Undefined you don't want to use it because you think you might not get the carving right, or you can't think of a design, or you think you can't draw or whatever, but now I've used it I'm all set to order new supplies to use with my carving tools and make more. To see how it works visit my post on the
Stampin' Up! Undefined Kit.
I'm absolutely delighted with how my robin has turned out. So delighted in fact that I've made the same card twice, but in a slightly different way.
Above is very simply stamped. I used my markers to colour the stamp and then again used markers to colour and shade the handle of the spade I drew for the robin to sit on. Below is the same 'picture', but I've used more layers and stamps to create a different feel. The handle this time is stamped with the amazing Hardwood stamp to give the wood effect and I've used a brad to act as the pin holding it together. Holly adds that festive feel and I've hand cut the leaves, smudged them a bit with ink and added a touch of crystal effects and dazzling diamonds. Gorgeous Grunge which will be an all time favourite of mine has taken away the starkness of just a plain base card of naturals ivory and my robin once again is coloured with different shades in markers again.
This is my stamp and the Undefined Kit which contains everything you need to carve your own stamps. It was much easier than I thought and I'm so proud of myself for finally using this great kit.
Have fun when you try!
