Emboss Resist Technique Tutorial - Have you tried it?

stampin' up! Colourful Season perfect for emboss resist technique

Welcome to the July 2019 Totally Techniques Global Stampin' Up! Demonstrators Blog Hop.  Today we are sharing ideas for using the emboss resist technique as chosen by Satomi Wellard our team member in Japan.

Seems crazy that at the moment in the UK and Europe we are having mega heat waves so why would I choose autumn leaves to share, but they just came to hand and they are from the Stampin' Up! set called Colourful Seasons and that is certainly what we are experiencing right now.  

This is how to create this colourful scene. 

Start with a piece of white card and sponge your chosen colours across the card. I used Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry.  I used sponges and daubers to add the colour.

Next you need to stamp images across the sponged card with versamark ink.  I used a mixture of the solid and line stamps to cover the card to make sure I got various looks once the rest of the process was complete.  

Add clear embossing powder to the stamped images and heat in the usual way for heat embossing.  

Once this is done take a colour darker than all your other colours used, so I used Early Espresso, and sponge brayer it all over the card.  You can take excess ink off the embossed images with a kitchen towel.  

The final element is to place a piece of copier paper over the whole piece and use an old iron to iron off the melted embossing powder.    Of course you could leave it on also as that works just be sure to take excess ink off the images using the kitchen towel mentioned above.  

You can then finish your card by adding copper die cuts and a sentiment.  To create veins on the solid copper leaf I used my stylus  from the Simple Scored Scoring Tool to emboss the foil card. 

I stamped and embossed the sentiment also in Stampin' Up! Colourful Seasons with white powder onto Soft Suede card and smudged the edges gently with Early Espresso ink and some 2nd generation leaf stamping.  

The artwork is matted onto Cherry Cobbler card and onto Very Vanilla thick card base.  

It's a fun and easy technique and allows you to make bold designs.  I hope you'll give it a go!

International Happiness Day

Stampin' Up! Foxy Friends looks great on Painted Seasons papers

Today is International Happiness Day so I'm sharing a little hello with you to make your smile and hopefully therefore HAPPY!!!!

The sun has shone here today and I've been for a lovely walk with Little Miss Naughty, done some chores and rewarded myself with a little time in the room of craft. Yay me I'm happy.

I made this simple card using the Painted Seasons papers from Stampin' Up! Saleabration and thought this piece matted onto some yummy Poppy Parade card would make a super scene for cute little foxy loxy.  He's been a little forgotten recently but is a great punch with his matching Foxy Friends stamp set.  When he first hit the scene he was very popular as he comes with lots of friends as you can see from my Foxy Friends post.

I've also used my Itty Bitty Sentiments set for the sweet little hello statement and before I stamped it I used the classic label punch to create an aperture and then stamped the sentiment with the aperture layer flat on the base card.  It creates a little detail that is different and easy to do.
