Happy Mother's Day - Are you ready?

Just like Christmas I find that key events like Mother's Day creep up on you and before you know it the rush is on to make a beautiful card or two and you can get in a mess.  I'm taking part in a Ladies Pamper Evening at Kirkby on Bain Primary School very soon and so I thought I'd try to get ahead of the game for others as well as myself by making a few Mother's Day cards and gifts.  It's late this year so we've all really got no excuse, but the days just seem to run away with me...... I don't know about you!  Today's card has worked out well for the Less is More challenge this week which has a colour theme of pastels and so here I've used pastel shades of marina mist, bashful blue, baja breeze with a little certainly celery just to highlight it all.  On my flower which is made from the Pick a Petal stamp set from Stampin' Up! I've added some dazzling diamonds and highlighted spots on the petal edges with my versamarker and clear embossing.  You'll need to click on the picture for a better view, unfortunately the light in Lincolnshire isn't good today. Hope it's better wherever you are.
My sentiment is from a retired US Stampin' Up! set and I've used markers to ink it and then around the stamped layer I've used my certainly celery marker to gently add some definition to the edges.
Buttons from the subtles collection and a rhinestone just finish the flower and give a little more luxury for a special mum.
Must dash now as it's Sunday I'm supposed to be ironing and Charlie objects to going to school with no trousers if he can't find them under his nose at the end of his bed! Typical boy!!!!
More soon

Love is in the air!

Valentine's Day looms on the horizon and so I've had a play today and made this vintage style valentine card.  Artistic Etchings mingles with En Francais and the Sale-a-bration set Bliss, along with a handful of love hearts. I've used a chipboard A and coloured and glossed it with crystal effects and the Eiffel Tower is stamped on rose red card and then embossed three times to give it an enamel type effect.  There's the inevitable 'smudging' and some hand torn edges to add to the vintage look.  I'm not really sure about this one, but the home vote is it's a keeper so I'll leave it with you to comment.
It's been a bit of a crazy day with one of my technique clubs, kids here and there and in particular Olivia is in her first night of panto - Little Miss Muffet - tonight so I've become a make up artist and hairdresser for the last half hour and then taxi for both her and Charlie; nothing new there then!
Now it's time to hit the road for a parish council meeting  and the sofa beckons on my return.  Hope your evening promises to be more exciting.
Come back soon.
