Moving Along with the Times Snowflake Challenge

Today I'm back with the Design Team at Moving Along with the Times where we are sharing inspiration for cards with a snowflake theme.  You can join in our challenge with your makes here.

For my card I masked off a piece of white card with low tack tape and then used sponges along with Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point and Night of Navy inks to sponge from light to dark creating a night sky.

Before removing the tape mask I used an aqua painter to flick droplets of water across the sky and let them sit briefly before moping with a piece of kitchen towel.  This removes some of the ink and give the effect of snow falling.  I made sure the sky was dry before stamping on trees using a stamp from Stampin' Up! 's Most Wonderful Time product medley.  I stamped these in Shaded Spruce and some were 2nd generation ink to give the appearance of more trees in the background.  Again I made sure the ink was dry before stamping snowflakes using the little stamp from Christmas Countdown which can be bought to use with Stampin' Up!'s advent calendar kit, but is overlooked as a super stamp set for coordinating with all other Christmas sets for collage stamping and more.  These snowflakes were stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.   I also used the chalk marker to add some snow to the tree branches and with wet glue I added some snowflake sequins.  Be careful when you add wet glue to heavily inked card as too much glue can make your ink run and bleed.

The sentiment is silver heat embossed and die cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I've added a strip of silver foil card to add a little more shine!

Don't forget to join our challenge at MAWTT and do take a look at the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley which includes all these wonderful goodies.

Guest Blogger - Trish Latimer

Guest Blogger
Last year dear reader you may remember I was asked to design some cards for Craft Stamper magazine.  It's a multi-media craft publication with strong links to rubber stamping.  I shared two of my cards in this stampingscene post and also one that shared the shaving foam technique.

The editor of the magazine has kindly given me permission to share the projects she made for the same article in the magazine.  The article was highlighting the fabulous Stampin' Up! In Colors of Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig and Berry Burst and here's what Trish told me about her favourite out of the three.

"I'm a lime girl, always have been! I used to use purple and lime green together on absolutely everything, then it grew into lime with turquoise, lime with red, lime with black and white and so on. Lime tops the list for me I think!"

She also shared how she create each of her projects.
The card above
Creating colourful flowers is very quick and easy if you have inks to hand! I dripped Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig inks onto a craft mat, then spritzed with water. I used the card smoosh technique to add colour to the cardstock, drying in between layers of ink. Once I had a pattern I was pleased with, I made sure the card
was totally dry before beginning to stamp. I used a flower from the Clear Falling Flowers set, and stamped it three times onto my inky background. I fussy cut the flowers, then used them on a simple card. The flowers ‘sit’ upon a scrap of inky cardstock cut from the original background. A few doodled lines later, and the card was finished.

Falling Flowers Inky Canvas

Inky Canvas
The new embossing paste from Stampin’ Up is a perfect texture, it smooths through a stencil wonderfully! The mask from the Pattern Party set was used on my canvas, and once dry I dripped Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst inks over it. Once the ink was dry, I attached two stamped flourishes (from the Clear Falling Flowers set) that I had stamped onto acetate. The next layer to add was three die cut scribble circles from the Swirly Circles set. These were cut from white card, then had the Lemon Lime Twist ink sponged onto them. I coloured card with the two inks as previously mentioned, then once dry stamped three buds and three flowers (again from the Falling Flowers set). The buds and flowers were then fussy cut and adhered on top of the die cut circles.

Thanks Trish for contributing to this post.   If anyone is interested in Craft Stamper Magazine you can buy it through selected retailers in the UK or can subscribe via the website  .  Single print copies are available also and digital copies too.

o Pop back soon as I have my third project to share from this edition of the magazine and some exciting news.
