More ideas with babywipe technique for paper crafters

At the weekend I joined the Totally Techniques International blog team to share with you lots of ideas for the baby wipe technique.  I have an 'after' product for you today.  To recap you need to add drops of ink from a few re inkers onto a folded baby wipe which you place on a non porous surface. I find that a stamp case works well and i keep the occasional broken one, (usually the I've trodden on it or the dog might have  tasted a corner) especially for this technique and others like shaving foam etc.

Next step is to use it as a multicoloured ink pad.

And stamp multicoloured images as you can see in my last Stampingscene post to create a beautiful background or stamped images that can be die cut and used as a focal point.

You will want to have plenty of card ready for this as you can create lots from one wipe and keep them for other projects.  However as the ink spreads through the wet wipe the colours merge and so you can get extra use from it depending a little upon the colours as it can end up not quite so pretty.  I firstly added a laser cut sheet from the Dandy Laser-cut paper to the homemade ink pad and then used an old brayer to run over the sheet.  It pushes the paper into the ink and creates a multi-coloured laser cut piece.

As I type this one is currently drying on a window sill.  I will use this as a background for another card.  You can then also see that the brayer has some ink on it and has also silhouetted some of the dragonflies where the brayer didn't hit the inky wipe.  I've used this on another piece of white card and will again use for another card.
Finally I have also once the dragonfly laser sheet was removed repeated this action a few times to create sheets that I can die cut images out of or use as a background.  I store these in plastic wallets and can use as and when and in the case of my card I'm sharing today.  I used the Quiet Meadow Bundle in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue to die cut some of the images to create such a card.

Tip for the butterfly as it cuts it as though it is wings closed.  Cut one piece with your inked background uppermost and then cut with it on the un inked side to get an opened winged butterfly.

The stamps from the bundle add some simple stamping and some retired enamel dots finish the piece along with the end of the label die in the bundle tucked underneath the layers.  This is a great way to use up off cuts or minor mistakes on a shifting die through your die cutting machine.

I used the colours Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, So Succulent and Evening Evergreen.  You can see all the colours and bundles in our new catalogue online on my website or contact me to arrange for your own paper copy to browse and enjoy full of lovely products but also lots of project inspiration.

Thanks for dropping by, keep safe and keep stamping

Gifts, Ribbons and Bows

I'm excited to share my Christmas Card Club card with you today as for once as my choice I picked something some months ago as a theme and didn't then think "OMG why did I choose this!!!" .  I chose this theme knowing that we would have a new winter mini catalogue with lots of gorgeous seasonal stamps and trimmings, but never did I think it would work so well as this; a stamp set with literally ribbons and bows and I've added the gifts.

I used the 'Tis the Season papers and the Swirly Frames stamp set to add box edges in gold embossing before trimming my gift box shapes.  I've then added embossed, stamped or coloured bows to them all and a sentiment tag to the largest.  I created an embossed matt layer and chose the de-bossed side to add the paper parcels onto it as it was smoother to stick the papers onto but I think looked better behind the parcels.

Regular visitors know I'm a bling lover and so a few red rhinestones just finished off my middle parcel.  Wouldn't it be lovely to receive Christmas gifts like this all coordinating and bowed!!

Start simple with a One Sheet Wonder 6 x 6

I don't know about you, but in lockdown I seem to have been busier than ever. I've enjoyed having the children at home and with some very nice weather we've enjoyed the time in the garden and finally bringing the right kind of floral life and fruit and veg back into it.  When I snapped my Achilles tendon two years ago I couldn't do a thing and as the lead on things gardening it all went to pot.  However this year we will be feasting on tomatoes, beans, courgettes, red and black currants, pumpkins, squash to name but a few.  Not forgetting my hanging baskets and pots which if I say so myself are looking rather beautiful.

This has however distracted me from crafting, but today I'm joining my fellow international Stampin' Up! demonstrators to bring you our versions of the One Sheet Wonder.  I've never actually done one before so started small with a piece of 6" x 6"  designer series patterned paper and started cutting.  My cut plan is below and you could use any papers you have in your stash or indeed you can stamp your own using any stamps and colours.

It's easy to do and is a great way to use up those papers that we all have lurking in the craft box and it's a quick way to make cards once you have a layout to follow.  It's even simpler if you stick with just a couple of colours and simple sentiment stamps.

Here's the plan I made of my cutting.  You can see just two tiny strips weren't used but look at my Bee Happy post you can see that even those bits can be put to good use.  You can then matt your cut pieces like I have with coordinating card stock, add embossed layers and punched shapes or could even do more stamping beyond the simple sentiments I've added, but this gives you a great starting point and you can take it where you want.

Simple stamping for the sentiments and a little embossing on a couple adds some differences. You could step it more with twine, ribbon or embellishments.

I used sentiments from Stampin' Up! sets Well Said, Lovely You Bundle and Rooted in Nature,  the Tin Tile embossing folders, Stitched Shape dies and my trusty trimmer.   The paper is part of the In Good Taste pack where each design is a photographic image depicting visual textures, great for various types of projects.

Don't forget there are just a few days left on the current promotion to join us as a discount shopper with Stampin' Up!.

Have you heard the BUZZ?

The buzz is new month, new challenge and a new card for the Moving Along With The Times monthly challenge.  Diamante is the theme and I love a bit of bling so I've added Noble Peacock rhinestones to my mixed media Honey Bee card.

I started with watercolour paper and added different colours in a wash to create a background.  On top of this I sponged clouds using a mask and created my own mask with die cut vellum using the honeycomb die from the Detailed Bee dies which coordinate with the Stampin' Up! Honey Bee stamp set.

I added a gesso circle layer then also used the same home made stencil to add embossing paste and the leftover colour on the stencil/mask blended with the paste to give a shimmer of colour.

Using Stampin' markers I added flowers and ink splatter to the piece.  I white heat embossed the beehive onto watercolour paper then colour washed it to blend it with the background but deepened the colour to the edge to make it stand out too!  The bee is heated embossed with silver and then I carefully added colour with an alcohol marker.

I also added some clear Wink of Stella to the clouds, because every cloud has a silver lining, even though it's not so easy to see on my card or in real life right now.

Simple white embossing on black card for just as simple a sentiment.

Come and join us with the MAWTT challenge .  It's on all month so you have time to make a Diamante card.  You can also check out the new Ornate Garden Suite on the new Stampin' Up! UK website.  This suite includes it's own bling in the form of foiled papers and gilded gems.

Moving Along with the Times Snowflake Challenge

Today I'm back with the Design Team at Moving Along with the Times where we are sharing inspiration for cards with a snowflake theme.  You can join in our challenge with your makes here.

For my card I masked off a piece of white card with low tack tape and then used sponges along with Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point and Night of Navy inks to sponge from light to dark creating a night sky.

Before removing the tape mask I used an aqua painter to flick droplets of water across the sky and let them sit briefly before moping with a piece of kitchen towel.  This removes some of the ink and give the effect of snow falling.  I made sure the sky was dry before stamping on trees using a stamp from Stampin' Up! 's Most Wonderful Time product medley.  I stamped these in Shaded Spruce and some were 2nd generation ink to give the appearance of more trees in the background.  Again I made sure the ink was dry before stamping snowflakes using the little stamp from Christmas Countdown which can be bought to use with Stampin' Up!'s advent calendar kit, but is overlooked as a super stamp set for coordinating with all other Christmas sets for collage stamping and more.  These snowflakes were stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.   I also used the chalk marker to add some snow to the tree branches and with wet glue I added some snowflake sequins.  Be careful when you add wet glue to heavily inked card as too much glue can make your ink run and bleed.

The sentiment is silver heat embossed and die cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I've added a strip of silver foil card to add a little more shine!

Don't forget to join our challenge at MAWTT and do take a look at the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley which includes all these wonderful goodies.

Have you seen this?

This new Stampin' Up! Saleabration stamp set is just gorgeous. I so love the textured look that you adchieve as the stamps are DistINKtive and so you get all this beautiful light and shade which makes the flowers and other images look as though you could just pick them off the page.

For my simple card I used my Stamparatus, stamp positioning tool, to add first the smoky slate ink and then using markers I added different colours to the centre of the flower. It took a little bit of patience to stamp each flower individually, but I wanted to define the flower centres using other colours.  I used Mossy Meadow in the very centre and then lined it with black and Soft Suede.  I did each layer at a time cleaning in between most layers.  Using the Stamparatus allows you to go back if you missed a bit or needed darker. bolder colour.  The Lemon Lime Twist ombre ribbon and die cut leaves in the same colour just add a bit of POP and then I've matted my stamped design onto a piece of Soft Suede card stock that just added some warmth, but not too much pop as if I'd added it in lime.  The die cut leaves and sentiment oval are from the Spring Catalogue's Wonderful Floral Framelit dies and the sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.

These stamps look amazing in any colour and even more special they are FREE, yes free with a qualifying order.  Pop by my Stampin' Up! online shop to see them and the stunning papers they come with which you can see used on my stampingscene post.
