Christmas Card Club - Faux Torn Edge Continues

Our fortnightly Christmas Card Club Challenge continues with the theme this week of including sheep, turkeys or camels or indeed a combination.  Rachel chose the theme and you can see her makes and all the other ladies by clicking on Christmas CC at the top of my blog.  There will be a fabulous selection with all different styles so great inspiration.

For me I have to say this was a them I gulped at as my first thought was I don't have any of these creatures in my stamp stash, but them I remembered this sweet little lamb who I found I couldn't part with when it retired.  I've also used Night in Bethlehem Stampin Up set from the current annual catalogue to create some depth with the buildings in the background and the important star.  I used the faux torn edge technique in a similar way to my previous post to create the ground the lamb stands on and the sky I sponged using Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Night of Navy ink building up from light to dark and have left almost white space in the centre for the light from the star.   The sentiment and star are simply heat embossed in silver.  The words are from Merry Christmas to All which is an awesome Christmas sentiment set in the Stampin Up winter 2018 catalogue with a coordinating die set. You can mix and match words and die cuts to create the perfect sentiment of choice or use like me one of the short messages included.

This shows how I used a piece of torn paper to sponge the ground.
Here I used the other half of the torn paper to mask the ground in order to sponge the sky.

To be sure that the buildings were solid colour I used my Stamparatus to enable me to stamp the image on itself several times to get total ink coverage.

The lamb himself, is stamped with black memento ink and coloured with Stampin' Blends. I used light and dark Smokey Slate, Black and Petal Pink light to give a little colour to the inside of his ears and define his cheeks.

Happy Sunday All

Christmas Card Club - Mixed Media

It's time for Christmas Card Club challenge again and our challenger, Mary, asked for mixed media cards.  I've used the striking Stampin Up dies Bethlehem edgelits which coordinate with the stamp set Night in Bethlehem.  If you like nativity cards then this is a set of dies and stamps for you.

To create my sky I used colour washes and spattering along with some clear wink of stella all on water colour paper.  I've die cut the buildings from night of navy card stock and the star from silver foil card.  The sentiment is from a retired set Good Greetings also Stampin Up and then from the Night in Bethlehem set I've heat embossed the shepherd with black embossing powder.

A night of navy matting layer sits on top of a thick white card base. The layers of buildings are given some depth with baby stampin dimensionals.

You can visit the other ladies in our challenge club via the button at the top of my blog.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Christmas Card Club - The Nativity

Stampin' Up! Night in Bethlehem Stamp Set

It's been while since I've participated in the Christmas Card Challenge as life has been busy with the build up to Thailand and this week exam results for Olivia. I'm delighted to share though that she got her first choice place to study Business and will be leaving the nest very soon.  We are so proud of her.

Our challenge today is set by Christine and she wanted us to remember the true meaning of Christmas which has fallen perfectly with my recent order of the new stamp set Night in Bethlehem and the Bethlehem edgelits . These will both be available to purchase in my Stampin Up online shop from 1 September.  Aren't they fabulous and will be useful for years to come.  I've teamed them up with some new papers called Merry Music Specialty and you can just see that the sheet I've used has a carol printed on it with the line "Born a king on Bethlehem's plain...."  I've used sponges and ink to add colour to a soft sky bendy card similar to one in shape to one I made years ago for Shelli's old creative challenges which I won.  You can just see too that I used the brick wall mask behind the first layer of buildings to add a little more interest.  I've also heat embossed in clear some stars onto the carol sheet prior to sponging on colour.  Mary and Joseph are stamped and die cut black on white.

Do take a look around the other ladies blogs for lots more 'Reason for the Season' inspiration.

Happy Sunday.
