Layering Stencils for different inking technique

how to use stencils using stampin up quiet meadow bundle

Hi there friends and happy weekend especially for those of you in the UK as it is a long weekend here. Tell me if you live elsewhere if you have Monday as a holiday too.

At Totally Techniques this month we are sharing double stencilling. I used shades of green and created a circle stencil using a piece of vellum and a circle die and also used one of the Basic Patterns masks for my other layer of stencilling.

I began with embossing the flower onto white card using clear embossing powder.  I then used a blending brush  ( shh they are back in stock if you want some add a gentle layer of Soft Succulent ink before moving on to add more  ink using the spotty stencil and a blending brush  and then over inked using the circle stencil I created.

I left the circle stencil in place to add the text stamp in Evening Evergreen ink to make it appear to only be on the circle.  I added some splatter stamping and also some gilded leafing using versamark and heat and stick powder with a heat tool.

The finishing touch was to add second and third generation stamping of the small flowers and love stamp before adding a stamped die cut tag and a fussy cust stamped flower.  The flower I stamped three times and cut along different petal edges to lift each one differently and add dimension.

All the stamps are part of the Quiet Meadow stamp set which is part of the bundle including the Meadow dies.  The shades of green are both from the new 2021 - 2023 in colours and you can see more the dies in use on my earlier stamping scene post.

Christmas Card Club

handmade christmas card reindeer wrapped in fairy lights

Welcome to my Sunday card for the Christmas Card Club challenge.  Those in the club are used to me being a bit all over the place and I totally got my dates wrong for the last challenge which was a card with humour and today is meant to be winter sports, but I don't really have anything that would suit that and my punch art back up that I'd usually do for such a theme would be somewhat stretched so I'm catching up with my humour card.

I love this fun deer he just makes you smile and I really enjoyed the practice of using my alcohol markers. I think I'm getting better, but there's always room for improvement.  The image itself is a very old stamp set from my stash, so old I can't remember where it's from or from where I bought it.   He's just a jolly guy don't you think?

I added some border doodles with a marker pen and whilst you can't see it believe me there is a little bit of Wink of Stella on the fairy lights.  I layered him onto Granny Apple Green and Pacific point card on a white base.  I also like to make the odd card a different shape and size to the popular A6, but then Christmas comes and I'm rushing to buy or make envelopes.  Good way to use up some of those papers that we all hoard for rainy days though.

It's stopped raining here today, but I'm going to chill with a little crafting as I had my second covid vaccination yesterday and feeling a bit sluggish today.  Hope you have a happy Sunday and that it stays dry wherever you are.

Keep safe and keep stamping

Stampin' Up! Quiet Meadow

handmade card using quiet meadow bundle stampin up with zoe tant

I have fallen completely in love with the new Quiet Meadow bundle in the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue.  It consists of a fab pack of dies that cut wild flower silhouettes and more and a stamp set to complement the same theme with sentiments, splatters and flowers.  Perfect for CAS cards as well as those of you who love a mixed media approach.

For my card I simply cut a vellum stencil and used a blending brush to add the background floral and then added some dies cuts, pen splatters and a little bee busy about his business.  The bee is from Garden Wishes and the little tag holding it all together comes in the bundle.

I've used the new in colour card Evening Evergreen with Grey Granite and white.  I'm a big fan of copper so my sentiment tag is heat embossed with copper powder and I used a little retired copper metallic thread to carefully attach the tag, but a quick tip would be to add a couple of mini glue dots to the back of the tag to just keep it safely in place.

I love the clear epoxy dots which now come as raindrops which would work just as well.

Happy spring all and thankfully I managed to photograph this on a bright cheerful day amongst the blossom of my pear tree espalier.

Happy weekend and see you again soon for Christmas Card Club on Sunday.  I got mixed up last time so I have a couple to share.

Keep safe and keep stamping

Bouquet of Blooms for MAWTT Challenge

May brings a bouquet of blooms as the theme for our MAWTT challenge.  You can join in by adding your blog url link over on the challenge blog HERE

For my design team card I chose to use this fabulous die set called Many Layered Blossoms.  The dies are part of a bundle called Blossoms in Bloom and coordinate with a stamp set called Blossoms in Bloom too.  I used double sided adhesive sheets to die cut the outside layer and added Gilded Leafing once I had stuck the outside 'rim' to the navy layer.  This allowed me to then remove the other layer of backing to add the gold. The whole bloom was then stuck to a white card base.

I used blending brushes to add colour to the flowers and leaves and also a marker pen to add some splatters for a little more detail.

My sentiment is white heat embossed and is from the same stamp set.  It's a simple but effective card and I just love the gold.

Hope to see you join in the challenge.

Keep safe and keep stamping.

More ideas with babywipe technique for paper crafters

At the weekend I joined the Totally Techniques International blog team to share with you lots of ideas for the baby wipe technique.  I have an 'after' product for you today.  To recap you need to add drops of ink from a few re inkers onto a folded baby wipe which you place on a non porous surface. I find that a stamp case works well and i keep the occasional broken one, (usually the I've trodden on it or the dog might have  tasted a corner) especially for this technique and others like shaving foam etc.

Next step is to use it as a multicoloured ink pad.

And stamp multicoloured images as you can see in my last Stampingscene post to create a beautiful background or stamped images that can be die cut and used as a focal point.

You will want to have plenty of card ready for this as you can create lots from one wipe and keep them for other projects.  However as the ink spreads through the wet wipe the colours merge and so you can get extra use from it depending a little upon the colours as it can end up not quite so pretty.  I firstly added a laser cut sheet from the Dandy Laser-cut paper to the homemade ink pad and then used an old brayer to run over the sheet.  It pushes the paper into the ink and creates a multi-coloured laser cut piece.

As I type this one is currently drying on a window sill.  I will use this as a background for another card.  You can then also see that the brayer has some ink on it and has also silhouetted some of the dragonflies where the brayer didn't hit the inky wipe.  I've used this on another piece of white card and will again use for another card.
Finally I have also once the dragonfly laser sheet was removed repeated this action a few times to create sheets that I can die cut images out of or use as a background.  I store these in plastic wallets and can use as and when and in the case of my card I'm sharing today.  I used the Quiet Meadow Bundle in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue to die cut some of the images to create such a card.

Tip for the butterfly as it cuts it as though it is wings closed.  Cut one piece with your inked background uppermost and then cut with it on the un inked side to get an opened winged butterfly.

The stamps from the bundle add some simple stamping and some retired enamel dots finish the piece along with the end of the label die in the bundle tucked underneath the layers.  This is a great way to use up off cuts or minor mistakes on a shifting die through your die cutting machine.

I used the colours Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, So Succulent and Evening Evergreen.  You can see all the colours and bundles in our new catalogue online on my website or contact me to arrange for your own paper copy to browse and enjoy full of lovely products but also lots of project inspiration.

Thanks for dropping by, keep safe and keep stamping
