Subtles for Eden's Garden and Shaded Summer

birthday card using stampin up Eden's Garden and Shaded Summer stamps dies

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope it is a much better year for everyone in all respects. It would be so good if we get to see more of our family and friends and travel freely.

Today for the Moving Along With The Times challenge and for the month of January our lovely team leader Diane has set the challenge for everyone to share cards for ladies and girls so a very easy challenge and we look forward to seeing all your designs.

For my card I combined the Eden's Garden Suite with the Shaded Summer stamp set and whilst you may have fallen in love with Eden's Garden prior to Christmas using it for festive cards it is also a gorgeous choice for subtle colours and cards for the ladies and girls in ours lives.

I chose the colour palette of Pool Party, Pale Papaya and Very Vanilla using my blending brushes to add very subtle colour to some parts of my design.  I also used alcohol markers, Stampin' Blends, to colour some basic pearls to tone in with my design.  By using second and third generation ink I added some soft background stamping to add depth and more interest to the die cuts.

Don't forget to join our challenge over on the challenge blog throughout January and enjoy the last few days of the new year bank holidays.

Keep safe all and keep stamping

Shaker Card Tutorial with Stampin Up Layered with Kindness

Wow what a month we've had so far!! I hope everyone is safe and keeping well.  We're keeping busy at Totally Techniques and have lots of ideas for making shaker cards for this month's hop.

I've used Stampin' Up! set Layered with Kindness and one of the punches that coordinates with the set, the Label Me Fancy punch.

I started with a base card of Soft Sea Foam card and stamped the large leaf image all around the edge of the card using second generation stamping in Pretty Peacock ink.  I cut a square of window sheet slightly narrower than a matting layer also in Soft Sea Foam.  I used an embossing buddy to remove static from the window sheet then  roughly the  centre of it I stamped with white craft ink the large sentiment stamp.  I added white embossing powder and then used my heat tool to carefully melt it.
Be sure to make sure your heat tool is hot before you start to melt the powder to avoid melting the window sheet or causing it to curl.  Don't let the heat stay in one place too long.

I used the Label Me Fancy punch to create an aperture in my matting layer.  I sponged some Rococo Rose and Soft Sea Foam ink gently onto this layer and then stamped images from the Layered with Kindness set.  I also stamped some of the flowers on white card and fussy cut them out.  I used a sponge to add a little more ink to the flowers and edges.   Having inked some white crinkle seam binding with Rococo Rose ink I used the aperture to wrap it around the side border and tie a bow.

I added double sided tape to the edges on the sentiment side of the window sheet then having removed the backing paper carefully lined it up and stuck it to the back of the matt layer so that I could see the sentiment through the aperture.  If you end up with an overhang of window sheet you can cut this now.

Using foam adhesive strips on the reverse of the matting layer I created a square that went around the aperture and also added them around the whole matt layer just in from the edges.  I took away static again on the reverse of the window sheet and the card base before adding some Woven Threads Sequins to the card base where the window would cover them.  Carefully removing the backing paper from all the foam strips I then positioned the matt layer onto the card base.

Finally I added the fussy cut flowers and each had a pearl added that I had coloured with the Rococo Rose alcohol blends which are a free gift with purchase until the end of the month as part of Saleabration.

Ordering the stamp set, punch, window sheet and foam adhesive strips to an order will earn you the alcohol blends free or another lovely gift from the Saleabration collection.

You can shop online for a gift with purchase until the end of March in my Stampin' Up! shop.

Or shop in the new Stampin' Up! beta store and have 20% discount on your shop until 31 March, but no gifts.  Shop HERE and it would be lovely if you nominated me as your demonstrator if you don't have one already.

Thanks for visiting and please enjoy the rest of the blog hop by clicking through the images.

Happy weekend

Z Fold Cards for Totally Techniques Stampin' Up! International Demonstrator Blog Hop

Welcome to our Totally Techniques Blog Hop for February. Our lovely French demo, Marine, chose our technique this month and so we are showing you different types of Z Fold Card tutorials.  If you've come from Kelly's blog in the USA I'm sure you've been WOW'ed already with her fab project.

Z Fold cards often open the opposite way to which I have created mine, but as you'll see from my photos I wanted the frogs to look as though they are talking to each other and therefore looking at each other so I made it so that you pull it right to open instead of left. Confused? probably but I wanted to also show that you can flip templates and make them work for you.

I used the idea from this link on SplitcoastStampers and turned it around and also made it work for metric measurements. US readers can follow the link for imperial measurements.

You'll need a piece of card that is 26cm x 10cm.
1. Score on the long side at 6cm up 2.5cm to point A.
2. Score on long side at 12cm all the way across the card.
3. Score at 18cm from point B which is 2.5cm up from the bottom edge of the card all the way to the top.
4. Cut from point A to B which is 2.5cm from the bottom edge.
5. Carefully fold the score lines.  The short fold between A and B comes out towards you as a mountain fold and the larger fold above it is a valley going away from you as you look at it.
6. Try not to fold from point B down to the bottom edge just the fold above it which is a mountain towards you also.

You now can decorate your design.  The measurements I used are below for each numbered section.

Part 1
matt layer is  11.5cm x 7 cm
dsp 11cm x 6.5cm

Part 2
matt layer is 5.5cm x 2cm
dsp 5cm x 1.5cm

Part 3
matt layer is 13.5cm x 2cm
dsp 13cm x 1.5cm

Part 4
matt layer is 7.5cm x 7cm
dsp 7cm  x 6.5cm

Then making sure you only add glue to the back of part 1 and 2 adhere the Z fold to a single piece of card which is 14.8 and smidge cms x 10.5cm ie a quarter sheet of A4.

I just adore these cute frogs from Stampin' Up! Saleabration set So Hoppy Together.  They are so much fun and you can do lots with them.  They are also free with a qualifying order until the end of March 2019.  Also in March you'll be able to purchase a set of dies to coordinate with them.  I used Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers) to colour them in and create some shading with the light and dark pens of Garden Green and Pineapple Punch.   I've added sentiments from the same So Hoppy Together stamp set in Poppy Parade and some red rhinestones to tie the colours together.

Next on the hop is Shannean and she has a fabulous card to share with you so don't forget to keep hopping on.
