Christmas Card Club

Our Christmas Card Club Challenge Lead lies with Anne this time and her challenge is for us to make a clean and simple Christmas card.  Not always easy, but with the rising cost of postage, clean and simple Christmas cards are exactly what we all need if we are to avoid needing a second mortgage to pay for the shipping.
We have lots of friends around the world and so I've made a card for posting abroad with no ribbons, bows or bling, but have used texture instead.  You can create detail without bulking your card by using your scoring tool.  Score on the inside of your card to make it raised (embossed) of the front or 'deboss' by scoring onto the front.
You can also get versatility from your stamp sets with a little imagination. My snowflake is from the Mixed Bunch stamp set in the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalogue which is stamped in white craft ink and allowed to dry.  To speed the drying process you can heat it gently with your heat gun or leave to air dry.  The curly label punch and modern label punch are great for adding detail to a sentiment and the corner rounder punch can soften the base of the card.
Inside the sentiment is perfect for those friends in distant lands, but is from a retired Stampin' Up! set.

Don't forget to visit Anne and the other ladies in our club and if you'd like to join in please contact me and I'll point you in the right direction.

Check back in the week to see pics from my first ever Stampin' Up! incentive trip to Vienna.  Zx

The Simply Scored Diagonal Plate from Stampin' Up!

Origami gift boxes made with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and Diagonal Plate
A few posts back I shared with you the wonderful new Simply Scored Scoring Tool. It's a fab piece of kit and can be used for numerous projects not least the one above.  Connect your scoring tool with the diagonal plate and you can make delightful gift boxes in different sizes.  On their own in christmas papers like Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty DSP they make inexpensive, but classy decorations for your dinner table or under your tree, but of course you can choose your paper and make any colour way for these simple origami boxes.

The diagonal plate also allows you to make custom envelopes for your cards and comes with some popular size envelope instructions for you to follow, but you can customise your envies for each card you make.  Check out this video to see how you can make envelopes.

If your interested in trying out the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool with the diagonal plate then contact me about a class.

Stampin' Up! UK Summer Mini Catalogue 2012 is live from today

The Stampin' Up! UK Summer Mini is live from today and is full of beautiful new stamp sets and accessories you just will not want to live without!  Included is one that will help you with those difficult male cards.  You can see an example using The Open Sea stamp set which I sneak peaked over the weekend.
The Summer Mini also introduces you to some new tools and accessories one of which is the Simply Scored Scoring Tool which has been designed by and for Stampin' Up!.  It's etched grooves every 1/8", and the ability to score card stock up to 12" x 12" (30.5cm x 30.5cm) means that the Simply Scored Scoring Tool helps you create perfectly measured score marks.  It makes light work of projects with a variety of score marks or if you are making multiples of the same scored projects.
It's features include

  • a high-quality stylus instead of a plastic bone folder.  The stylus is ergonomically shaped and has a comfort grip.  It's high quality metal tips at either end come in two sizes and glide smoothly over your paper.
  • a unique set of place markers that let you mark your score lines when creating multiple projects with the same score lines. It includes 3, but more can be purchased.
  • a hidden storage compartment in the back of the base to hold your scoring tools.
  • a capacity for up to 30.5cm x 30.5cm (12" x 12") card stock
You can add simple accents to cards and scrapbook pages or make impressive and yet simple projects like the rosette wreath above.  If I can do it so can you!

It's most important feature is that it accommodates both the metric and imperial crafter.  For those who prefer to work in inches there is the tool itself, but worry not if you prefer to work in metric there is a seperate add on - the metric plate - which allows for easy conversion of the basic simply scored scoring tool.  You can find out more below in this short video from Stampin' Up!

For a free demonstration or to buy please contact me on 01507 525885 or mail me martin.tant@homecall.co.uk

Come back soon for details of the diagonal plate that allows you to extend the use of your Simply Scored Scoring Tool even further and to make even more projects.

There are new opportunities available if you've been thinking about joining the Stampin' Up! family.
