 Happy end of Monday everyone! I hope the week has started well for you. I'm very excited today as a box of goodies arrived from BT who are supposed to coming to visit soon to connect us to fibre.  It's really exciting as I might be able to do some live videos soon and not worry about the internet connection, my classes will be even more fun and I'll be able to share more craft with you all.  WHOOP WHOOP!  Let's hope this particular bubble never bursts.  

Now today I've a very simple, but elegant card to share.  It's September now so time to get the festive stash out and play.  Well ok so it's early September, but still time if you are a Chrimbo fan like me. 

Joyful Holly is in the Stampin' Up! winter mini catalogue and is a beautifully designed set with crisp modern outline images and two simple sentiments.  I used one image to gold heat emboss onto layers of black card and then popped on some red rhinestones for the berries.  Add a sentiment on vanilla card and you are done; #SIMPLESTAMPING as we say at Stampin' Up!

Moving Along With The Times - my challenge

Today it's time for my challenge on the Moving Along with the Times blog.  I'm asking everyone to create a card with either Santa or his elves or both on.  I've used the ever so cute #Elfie stamp set to create a simple, but effective card. 

I stamped this happy little fellow in black Memento ink on to a piece of whisper white card and then used my Stampin' Blends aka alcohol markers to colour him in.  Colours used included Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green and Crumb Cake all in light and dark shades as well as Soft Suede dark.  

Regular visitors will know that I love bling and so I gave him rhinestone bells on his cute shoes and glitter enamel dots for detail and if I'm honest to cover the finger smudge!!! Yes we all have them.  

With a black journalling pen I added some freehand doodles around the edge of my design to act as a frame and then matted this layer onto a card base. 

My sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas which I received free as a gift for achieving enough points as a Stampin' Up! Join Stampin' Up!

It's time for Christmas Card Club today.  I've taken the option of Anything Goes for my theme as opposed to Nativity chosen by Margaret down in Australia.  

I'm sharing some cards I've made using sneak peeks from the winter catalogue coming soon and also this month's limited edition stamp and die bundle from Stampin' Up! Blended Seasons. 

The card above is one we made at card club earlier this month. It's really easy and the beautiful papers do the talking for you.  From one 12 x 12 (30.5cm x 30.5cm) sheet of patterned paper you can make at least 7 cards.  Cut three strips that are 10cm x 30.5cm.  Then cut two matt layers from each strip that are 10cm x 14.3cm.  Keep the off cut ends for a further card that you can see below.  

I then cut a stitched shape using the dies from the Blended Seasons and used the Stampin Up Stamparatus positioning tool to stamp the holly in versa mark and heat embossed with gold powder.  The Stamparatus was also used to stamp Merry Christmas from the same set in Cherry Cobbler ink.  This piece is simply layered onto the designer paper and you have simple but effective cards that are easy to post and quick to make.  If you do each stage of the card and prep several you can have many made in a short time, leaving time for the special family cards we all like to make. 

Remember the off cuts from above this is where I used them.  The beauty of Stampin' Up! papers is that they are double sided and so you can mix and match strips to create a design that suits you.  I've simply stuck them on a thick white card base and added the die cut sentiment from the incoming Merry Christmas Thinlet Dies.  You'll see below that I didn't waste the negative of the sentiment and carefully saved the mini pieces to add to all the letter loops for the card below.  This is champagne foil card on a real red card base.  To make this really easy use double sided adhesive sheets on the reverse of your foil card before die cutting. 

Also before sticking I ran the negative through the big shot with a new embossing folder called Swirls and Curls.  

With this simple approach I'll have fab Christmas cards lined up in no time! That's my plan anyway.

Christmas Card Club - Apron of Love for Christmas Baking Theme

Stampin Up! Apron of Love arrived this week just in time for Maureen's challenge for our jolly Christmas Card Club.  She asked us to use the theme of Christmas Baking and this set just leapt out for me.  I've also used the Stampin' Up! favourite Cookie Cutter Christmas set to include a peeping gingerbread man to compliment the sentiment which is from a set I've had for years.

My colour choice is cherry cobbler, garden green, crumb cake with touches of silver with a metallic foil doily, foil utensils and some silver metallic enamel shapes.  I used the stitched shape dies teamed with layering square dies to cut and mount the sentiment.

You'll see that some of the pieces of the lovely apron are very fiddly and so to make it easier to adhere them I first added some multipurpose adhesive sheet to the reverse of my designer paper so that once die cut they already had adhesive on the back and all I needed to do was peel off the backing paper to stick them onto my card.  It makes it so much easier than adding wet glue or fiddling with glue dots.  An assortment of adhesives makes life so much easier don't you think!

To bring the apron to life I added various glue dots or stampin dimensionals to give a bit of a 3D effect layering the utensils and the pockets.  I love the sweet oven gloves one is from the Apron of Love stamp set, the other I stamped with a stamp from Timeless Textures after I had die cut them both.
