How to make a simple gift bag with patterned paper

tantalizing stampers blog hop with patterned paper ideas

Here's a quick and easy make that I'm sharing as part of The Tantalizing Stampers blog hop to bring you fun tips for using your patterned papers or as we call them at Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers.

This is a cute bag that will take small gifts, perhaps the type that also come in small boxes containing sparkly things, or to make some chocolates or sweeties look even more exciting.

how to make a gift paper with pretty papers

1. Cut a piece of DSP 91/2" x 6"
2. Score on the long side at 3", 41/2", 6" and 9"
3. On the short side score at 1/2" and 41/2"
4. Fold the half inch panel on the short side so that it makes a border around the top of the bag as seen in the picture below.

5. On the long side, with this border at the top, cut from the bottom up each score line as far as the score line to make the bottom flaps that will be the base of your bag.
6.  Add double-sided tape to the inside bottom edge of  one long side on the bottom edge opposite the folded decorative border.
7. Put double-sided tape onto the outside of the narrowest end of your paper when laid out in a landscape position. This will tuck inside the opposite edge to form the bag shape.
8. Remove the backing paper of this piece of tape and connect with the opposite end to form the bag.
9. Remove the backing paper of the tape at the bottom and fold in first the untaped short pieces and then the untaped long side followed by the taped long side.  Use a bone folder inside the bag once stood up to secure the tape by pushing it gently but firmly down.

10. The final part is to add a ribbon handle and a decorative tag.

The most difficult part to is to fill it with chocolates and give it away, but remember the joy you bring to the recipient.

Have fun and don't forget to check through the other members of my team's ideas for using DSP.  You can find them via the picture links or the typed links below.

Keep safe and keep crafting

Which creature is your favourite?

stampin up birthday card using From All of Us with Zoe Tant

I love this fun stamp featuring all these cheeky creatures.  The stamp set is call From All of Us and it really is a fabulous group of friends or perhaps it could be your family members? Who would be who!

I've created this card for the MAWTT - Moving Along with the Times, October Challenge.  I watercolour washed a background onto watercolour paper with a rough spot for the stamp to go in left blank.  I then stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink which is what you need to then colour with alcohol markers in my cast Stampin' Blends.  I've limited colours at the moment and ideally would have made the monkey a different colour, but I tweeked it with my colour lifter and dabbled with different colours to make him a different colour to the bear.

I added sentiments from the same set by stamping onto patterned papers from the In Good Taste pack and used die cut matt layers in Early Espresso.  The sentiments are embossed and to get the colour I first stamped onto Versamark then gently onto the Early Espresso Pad, before adding clear embossing powder.

What a fun bunch they are don't you think?

Our challenge in case you hadn't guessed is animals and or birds over at MAWTT this month so why not join us.

Below is a second card I made using the same stamp, but I fussy cut out the Ostrich.  She is kinda sassy and reminds me of someone close to my heart.  If you watched I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last year you'll remember Caitlin Jenner and her motto for each day of 'Another Day to Excel'.  Similar message here and in the current world we live in I think we all need to make every day AWESOME.

Christmas Card Club - Anything Goes

It's my turn to choose the theme for our Christmas Card Club Challenge today and I've gone with a really simple one ie Anything Goes.  It leaves the doors wide open for everyone to choose whatever.

For my card I've used the fabulous Stampin' Up! Christmas Gleaming stamp set and famous dies 'scissors' tee hee for the fussy cutting of the holly.  I stamped the holly in memento black ink and used my Stampin' Up! alcohol blends markers to colour it.  Colours included Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam, Cherry Cobbler and Ivory.  I'm really pleased with how the holly and berries turned out.  The gorgeous copper foil layer is embossed with a folder called Hammered Metal and the background paper is from the very, very popular Brightly Gleaming Specialty papers.   This particular paper is Vanilla and Pretty Peacock and is just gorgeous.
Extra bling comes in the form of Wink of Stella on the leaves and berries where they catch the light and a simple linen thread bow.  My inspiration for the card came from the Stampin' Up! winter catalogue and I've flipped the design and layers a little.  When your mojo is low the catalogues are always a great source of inspiration.

All the products are available in my Stampin' Up! Online Shop are are detailed below

Playful Penguins for boys birthday cards

Last week it was one of my nephews birthday and I always struggle to come up with fun cards, but this time this uber cute penguin came to my aid.  He's from the Playful Penguins stamp set in the soon to arrive Stampin' Up! winter catalogue.  It is one of those 'not just for Christmas' sets as whilst it has scarves and hats for the penguins and sentiments to wish everyone warm wishes for the festive season, it also has some sentiments to suit other occasions not least a young boy is very cool!

I  used painters tape to secure my piece of water colour paper to a board to keep it flat and then I sectioned off each colour rough rectangle to add water colour washes in Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pacific point.  As I removed the tape for each section I dried it with my heat gun but then blended slighty with the section above when I started the next one.

I stamped the penguin with black Tuxedo Memento ink and fussy cut him out before adding a touch of Mango Melody to his beak and feet. I also used a black marker to seal the edges and stop any white peeping to make sure his shape stayed defined.

The sentiment as I've mentioned is from the Stampin' Up! set Playful Penguins and it is stamped in black too.  I've added some frosted and clear epoxy dots for the final touch.   The design is adhered to a retired piece of galvanised foil card and a Pacific Point base card.

To the inside of the card I added a stamped Happy Birthday using the sets Well Said and Merry Christmas to all and another penguin looking very grown up which I know my nephew thinks he is at 10.

Anyone else like me and can't resist a cute penguin?  Brings back memories of TV ads years ago and of course you have to ppppppick up a penguin!!
The countdown is on now for our winter catalogue. I wonder which sets you will choose first.  Will you be a Playful Penguin fan too?

Have a great day and pop back on Friday night for the Totally Techniques Global demo blog hop when we are sharing uses for the embossing pastes.

Thanks for checking in.
